Hukou Village Hsinchu, Taiwan for Water H2O ThursdayHukou Old Street prospered in earlier times with the development of the "Dahukou Train Pier" railway. The street is centered on Sanyuan Temple and comprises three roads: Jietou, Hengjie, and Xinjie. Measuring about 10 meters wide, it extends from the church at the site of the old station to Sanyuan Temple (a municipal heritage site) at end of the street. The buildings here are made of brick and have front arches in a Roman Baroque style. The buildings are framed a southern Fujianese style, with long shop homes lining both sides of the street. Residences, old clinics, cultural studios, cafes, and restaurants all contribute to the area's artistic yesteryear ambiance, making it a magnet for countless culturally-minded visitors.
